- If possible, avoid the use of capital letters, punctuation or typical spam words (free, cheap, money, win, euro, €, $, ...) in the subject line and mail body.
- Limit the subject line to 45 characters.
- Avoid excessive use of exclamation points, punctuation in general, capitals and blank lines in the text area.
- Do not use too many different colors, fonts and font sizes, and keep the ratio image / text in mind. Obviously your mail looks better with a lot of images, but the more HTML the mail contains, the higher the spam score becomes. So make sure that there is more text in the mail than pictures.
- Spam filters especially watch mails in the English language. Provide a title of at least three words in English newsletters. This way, the mail will have a lower spam score. Titles like 'Dear John' get higher spam score.
- Use correct spelling.
- Limit the number of URLs that click through to another page. This ensures a higher spam score.
